The Tibetans call Mt. Everest Chomolungma, “Mother Goddess of the Universe” and to the Sherpa people of Nepa it is Sagarmatha, “The churning Stick in the Sea of Existence.”  Mount Everest, or Chomolungma, is the highest point on earth.  The mountain, which is part of the Himalaya range in high Asia, is located on the border between Nepal and China.

 

Our route on Mt Everest will be the South Col from Kathmandu.  While in Kathmandu we will get permits and visit the 17th century splendors of:

                        1)  Monkey Temple

                        2)  Durbar Square

                        3)  Old Kings Palace

                        4)  Ancient City of Patan

 

We will fly to Lukla (2860 meters) where we will put our gear on Yaks and then trek through small towns:

                        1)  Monjo

                        2)  Namche Bazaar

                        3)  Debocke

                        4)  Lobucke

                        5)  Through Khumbu Icefall

                        6)  Base camp
